Overall team / department purpose

- The IT function is responsible for ensuring that our network of systems functions properly and connects well.

- Maintaining the governance of our business’s technological systems, maintenance of the infrastructure and functionality of the systems overall.

- Beyond that, professionals within the IT department work internally on computer software and hardware in many ways that allow a business to be successful.

Key role priorities

- This role is responsible for acting as the ICT representative on business projects which require ICT input.

- This includes supporting our business in obtaining maximum benefit from existing and new corporate systems, supporting the implementation, development and enhancement of such as appropriate to increase business efficiency in line with business requirements and priorities in line with business analysis and project management best practice.

Key working relationships

- As well as the ICT Project and broader team, the holder is required to interact on a regular basis with leaders and teams across all levels and functional areas of our business in the provision of support and delivery for ICT related projects from inception through to go-live.

- External to our business, the role holder is required to interact with external service providers as appropriate to ensure the most effective and efficient service provision.

Main duties & responsibilities

- Provide project management and business analysis support to system implementations, changes and upgrades.

- Prepare and update project documentation, ensuring compliance with the agreed project and programme governance arrangements using the agreed in-house project management framework, guidance, and associated templates.

- Work with business areas to provide business analysis support, including requirements gathering, process mapping and modelling.

- Evaluate business requirements, prepare and present proposals and design and deliver solutions to meet agreed objectives within time scale and budget.

- Undertake business analyst process reviews to identify areas for improvement and recommend potential solutions.

- Implement multiple ICT projects and changes across various different systems and business areas utilising various best practice frameworks including PRINCE2 and Agile as well as internal processes and procedures.

- Manage the handover of projects and changes to the ICT BAU Team and business areas, including all relevant documentation and training.

- Test and handover new system implementations as well as system upgrades and patches.

- Participate in relevant internal and external user groups as required.

- Actively research emerging technologies and assess their potential business benefit to our business.

- Develop and oversee the automation and integration of business systems through developing workflow, scripts and scheduled tasks.

- Complete any other tasks as commensurate with the level and nature of the post as delegated by the role’s line manager.

Education & Qualifications

Degree or equivalent in computer science or a related subject with a significant component of IT (E)

Qualification in IT project management (D)

Experience

Implementing successful IT projects and/or work package delivery within agreed timescales (E)

Working with system users to specify and then implement their requirements via software package vendors or minor software development (E)

Experienced in a range of application package systems used by multiple users across an organisation, e.g., financial, electronic invoice, HR, workflow, document management, management information reporting (E)

Working constructively directly with IT colleagues in software package vendors and ICT support providers (E)

Experience in Orchard Housing System (D)

Working in a housing environment (D)

Systems development (D)

Systems administration and support of multiple user package application systems (D)

Skills, knowledge & ability

Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to have effective, proactive two-way flow of jargon-fee communication with all system users and other stakeholders, including non-technical audiences (E)

Ability to keep abreast of all relevant ICT developments to enable continuous improvement delivery (E)
