The Opportunity

At William Grant & Sons, our rich heritage and vibrant legacy are at the heart of everything we do. Our Archive collection tells our unique story, and as we embark on an exciting two-year journey to catalogue and digitise these invaluable assets, we’re inviting dynamic, personable, and well-rounded professionals to join us.

We’re recruiting 3 Archive Cataloguers to be key contributors to this project over the next 18 months, blending meticulous archival skills with a warm, engaging approach that brings historical treasures to life.

What You Will Be Doing

Based at our Luxury bottling site in Cumbernauld, you’ll work hands-on with historic collections, dynamic media, and evolving digital archives. In close collaboration with our established Archive team, your role will involve:

  • Catalogue & Preserve: Ensure that every record is described, preserved, and maintained using robust archival standards.
  • Storytelling & Connection: Flag key milestones and share the fascinating stories hidden within our collections, bridging the gap between history and today’s vibrant company culture.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders, fostering an environment of clear communication and creative exchange that enriches our collective understanding of our legacy. Your ability to connect with people, communicate complex ideas clearly, and work seamlessly in a team is as important as your technical expertise.

About You

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just understand archival practices but who also brings an engaging, personable spirit to the role.

You should have:

  • Academic & Professional Expertise: A post-graduate qualification in Archive/Information Studies complemented by hands-on experience in Business/Drinks Archives or similar cataloguing projects.
  • Technical Mastery: A deep understanding of archival standards and procedures, with proven skills in managing Copyright and GDPR requirements, as well as proficiency in Excel, CMS, and digitisation standards and workflows.
  • Well-Rounded Communication Skills: Beyond your technical expertise, you’re someone who naturally builds rapport, inspires a sense of camaraderie, and communicates with clarity and empathy. You appreciate that archival work is as much about preserving objects as it is about preserving the narratives and relationships that connect us to the past.

If you’re ready to contribute both your archival expertise and your engaging personality to a project that celebrates heritage while building dynamic connections, we’d love to hear from you.
