Business Development Associate
Midsummer

Who we are
Midsummer Energy specialises in solar PV systems. The bulk of our turnover is in distributing complete solar PV kits, including solar panels, inverters, mounting systems and electrical components, to a network of installation customers. We also sell heat pumps, smaller off-grid solar set ups and we've also developed industry-leading tools like Easy PV and Heatpunk, which are revolutionising how our customers work.
We’ve grown significantly from humble beginnings - our first storeroom was the front room of a narrowboat, but we now run multiple warehouses in Cambridge, Glasgow and Dublin.
We're passionate about the environment, and we've gained a reputation for a helpful and open approach to business, and our staff share a common sense of purpose.
The role
As a Business Development Associate, you’ll be supporting the BD team to grow Midsummer's customer base and help existing customers get the best out of Midsummer. You’ll play a key role in helping to maintain strong customer relationships, assist with onboarding new accounts, reengaging dormant accounts and support general business development activities across the company. You're the first line of defence (or offence!) for the Midsummer BD team!
Responsibilities will include:
- Responding to new incoming customer registrations, usually via phone in the first instance.
- Helping to re-engage past customers or inactive accounts.
- On both occasions, learning as much about the customer as possible, and how Midsummer can help them move forward.
- Responding to enquiries and assisting with quotations and product suggestions.
- Learning about our product range and supporting the wider sales team.
- Updating our internal CRM systems and tracking your outreach activity.
- Assisting with customer training, exhibition events, or marketing campaigns.
- Within 6 months, you’ll likely be assigned some accounts of your own to help onboard, grow and hand over to the sales team.
- You may also be assigned a particular product or sector to oversee and help push.
Who we're looking for:
This is a great opportunity for someone who’s motivated by achieving goals, whether you're the type who thrives in energetic conversations or prefers focused, strategic outreach. Either way, you’ll need to be competitive, driven, and eager to succeed, but always being approachable and collaborative. We're looking for someone who is:
- Goal-oriented and enjoys hitting targets.
- Naturally competitive – whether quietly determined or openly enthusiastic.
- Personable and able to build rapport with a variety of people.
- Organised, proactive, and eager to learn.
- Excited about the renewable energy industry.
- A team player who can also work independently.
You don’t need a technical background – we’ll teach you what you need to know. What matters most is enthusiasm, great communication, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves.

- Company profit share scheme;
- Employees evenly share 10% of company profits
- Pension salary sacrifice scheme
- EV salary sacrifice scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- Free veg box each every week
- Early finish on a Friday
