Aspris South Wales College is recruiting a Tutor to join our Teaching team now! We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed tutor who will expand the learning experiences and provide tuition for small groups of young people, which allows for full engagement and ensures that the program of learning meets the needs of the individual. You will have experience teaching the national curriculum across primary and/or secondary within Special Educational Needs. The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs.

The Position Is

  • Monday Thursday 8.30 16:00
  • 4 days per week
  • 12 month fixed-term contract

Aspris College South Wales is an independent, specialist co-educational college for young adults aged 16 - 25 with Asperger's syndrome, autistic spectrum disorders and associated conditions based at Cwmbran. The college was set up in partnership with Coleg Gwent, the largest further education college in Wales, to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of our young people.

The Main Purpose Of This Role Would Be

  • To develop, maintain and teach an innovate, inclusive and engaging curriculum access relevant subject areas as directed by the Curriculum Lead.
  • To support initial and ongoing assessment and diagnostics, learner achievement, target setting and other quality measures as required by awarding bodies.
  • To be responsible for planning and preparing schemes of work and individual lessons for a range of learners with different needs including autism, learning disabilities, non verbal, and challenging behaviours. Excellent knowledge of Sign Along and/or Makaton would be an advantage.
  • To assess, record and report on students' development, progress and attainment in line with accredited to RARPA programme of study.
  • To attend progress reviews and interim reviews of students in your cohort and provide a progress report to the agreed time scale.
  • To communicate and consult with other professionals, including external agencies in carrying out assessments.
  • To communicate and consult with the senior management team, students, parents, carers and key stakeholders. to be flexible and able to teach other classes/cohorts when required.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of teaching the national curriculum, an hold a relevant teaching qualification.
