Location: Nr. Canterbury, Kent

Salary: up to £15.27 per hour

Hours: 5 days out of 7 (will include weekends and bank holidays)

Our Client

Is a prominent family-run fruit business based in Kent, and among the UK's largest growers and packers of top, stone and soft fruits.

Role Summary

To run the packing line as smoothly and efficiently as possible while following the Compliance and Health & Safety Rules.

Key Responsibilities Within Your New Role Would Be To

  • Lead and manage a team to ensure the smooth operation of the production line.
  • Oversee the production process and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Train and support team members, promoting best practices in the workplace.
  • Perform start up safety checks and ensure staff are wearing the correct PPE.
  • Order and collect packaging from the packaging store for production.
  • Ensure all labels and packaging are correct before starting the line.
  • Update staff regularly regarding priority of jobs and keep them updated of changes.
  • Ensure the fruit is the correct variety, grower and job number.
  • Assign tasks and balance workloads to achieve production targets.
  • Monitor attendance, performance and conduct regular team briefings.
  • Set up and manage line configurations based on orders or schedule requirements.
  • Track output, identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot technical or process issues.
  • Maintain accurate logs of production metrics, defects, and line performance.

Experience And Skills Required For This Position

  • Proven experience in a food production environment is essential.
  • Proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing, packaging, or processing environment.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to use initiative and be pro-active.
  • Ability to work independently and within the team.
  • Good Understanding of English.
  • Quality‑focused mindset with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of safety regulations, GMP, and Lean/Six‑Sigma practices.
  • Basic IT literacy (e.g., data logging, spreadsheets).
