As a Lecturer of Bricklaying at the EKC Training Centre in Hersden, part of East Kent Colleges Group, you will teach, train, and assess adult learners across a variety of settings, ensuring a high-quality and inspiring learning experience. You will also play a key role in supporting learners to reach their full potential and will lead, as appropriate, on designated study programmes or courses, taking responsibility for their design, delivery, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality and engaging lessons across a range of adult learning programmes.
  • Train and assess students in practical and theoretical aspects of bricklaying.
  • Support and motivate learners to achieve their full potential and career goals.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and review of course content and study programmes.
  • Track and monitor learner progress, providing feedback and intervention where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with college policies and procedures.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development and stay current with industry standards

This role is for 22.5 hours per week with a pro rata salary of £21,120 up to £23,162 per annum

About You

What We’re Looking For:

  • Highly organised and able to manage planning, delivery, and assessment effectively.
  • Creative in your approach to teaching, with the ability to design and deliver engaging and innovative lessons.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with learners and colleagues.
  • Confident in assessing and tracking student progress, using data to plan effective interventions that support learner success.
  • A positive outlook with a genuine passion for helping learners grow and achieve.
  • Empathetic towards students and responsive to their individual learning needs.
  • Proven classroom or group management skills, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Able to teach across a range of designated study programmes and/or courses, from Level 1 up to Level 3.
  • Motivated to inspire learners to succeed and reach their full potential.

Desirable (but Not Essential)

  • Experience of teaching in a college or adult learning environment.
  • Experience delivering training in the workplace or in a similar vocational setting.

Note that there are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Employees can move up the salary scale once one full academic year of teaching for our group is complete, subject to approval. Therefore, internal applicants may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification.
