About the role…
As a Planning Enforcement Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in investigating alleged breaches of planning control and ensuring that developments comply with planning regulations. You’ll balance the need for effective enforcement with sensitivity to the needs of residents, businesses and the environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the Senior Enforcement Officer in investigation and monitoring of alleged breaches of planning
- To seek to resolve through negotiation any breaches of planning control to safeguard the public and protect the environment of the Forest of Dean.
- Maintain records of all investigations and ensure that any evidence is presented in a logical and coherent manner.
- Make recommendations as to the appropriate course of action to address any alleged breach of planning
We are looking for someone who is a clear and confident communicator and who is able to work independently and make sound decisions.
This is a new role which will cover the Forest of Dean. Within the District, there are plenty of places to see and visit whether you love hiking or cycling. With our agile working ethos: you will be spoilt for choice.
You will need…
- Proven experience dealing with the public with excellent negotiation skills
- Proven investigative and/or planning experience
- GCSEs (5 A-Cs or equivalent, including Maths and English)
- Good level of IT skills - MS Office
- Communicates effectively at all levels (excellent verbal and written skills)

- Ability to travel
- Valid driving licence and use of a car for business purposes where necessary
