As a Junior Laboratory Technician, you would be an integral part of the Analysis and Evaluation (A&E) delivery team to ensure tests are carried out on time and in full accordance with quality requirements. Working in our Chemistry team, you will support sample preparation and be trained to perform laboratory tests and/or calibrations to meet customer requirements. No two days are the same as you’ll be supporting the team in solving critical problems for our customers across a huge breadth of areas.

As a Junior Laboratory Technician, you would be an integral part of the Analysis and Evaluation (A&E) delivery team to ensure tests are carried out on time and in full accordance with quality requirements. Working in our Chemistry team, you will support sample preparation and be trained to perform laboratory tests and/or calibrations to meet customer requirements. No two days are the same as you’ll be supporting the team in solving critical problems for our customers across a huge breadth of areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Sample preparation, for a variety of materials using laboratory milling equipment
- Train to perform laboratory tests and/or calibrations as required to meet customer deadlines, within UKAS and Quality Assurance requirements
- Work safely and responsibly with respect to other staff, materials and equipment, ensuring appropriate safety / work apparel is worn
- Handle internal / external queries in a timely and professional way
- Keep working area tidy and instruments maintained to standard
- Work in accordance with ISO 17025
- Diligent record keeping, reporting and documentation of work
- Qualified to a good standard in a chemical or physical science.
- Strong organisational skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with various Microsoft Office applications
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a “one team” manner to resolve any challenges that arise internally or externally
- Strong work ethic and once suitably trained, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Permanent position (apprenticeships considered)
- Full time (Monday – Friday whilst training, with working pattern involving regular weekend work thereafter)
