About The Role

East Kent Colleges Group are working in collaboration with BRIT Kids and have an exciting opportunity for to undertake teaching within Fashion / Textiles as part of the BRIT Kids Saturday morning classes programme at EKC Canterbury College.

BRIT Kids are fee paying performing, creative and media arts classes that run on Saturdays. BRIT kids is part of The BRIT School, a unique free school for the Performing and Creative arts.

You will be expected to write Schemes of Work overviews and run according to the BRIT Kids ethos which celebrates creativity through challenging, bespoke and contemporary teaching

At BRIT Kids we ask teachers to be creative, contemporary and self-directed. We want teaching at BRIT Kids to be the highlight of the week. We believe that allowing teachers to devise and create their own class content, means that they have ownership over what they are delivering and therefore passion and knowledge to deliver at a high level.

Teachers are asked to devise their own projects and write their own schemes of work, with support and guidance, when needed by the Director. The emphasis on contemporary, unique and challenging is important to us. You are encouraged to take risks and step out of their comfort zone. The joy of teaching at BRIT Kids is that although we have high expectations, level descriptors and ask for schemes of work overviews, teachers are not confined by a curriculum.

This position is for 3 hours a week during term time on a Saturday (with occasional extended hours for meetings) and is until 11 July 2026.

About You

As a BRIT Kids teacher, here are your main responsibilities:

  • Planning and leading your own fun, creative, and inspiring classes
  • Keeping track of who’s in and on time with simple, up-to-date registers
  • Helping students shine by getting them ready for performances, exhibitions, and open days
  • Catching up with the rest of the team in meetings when needed
  • Making sure all our young people are safe, supported, and looked after
  • Following our behaviour guidelines and keeping the Director in the loop if there are any issues
  • Adapting sessions to support students with additional learning needs, so everyone can get the most out of their time at BRIT Kids
