As a Manufacturing Shift Manager , your main responsibilities and duties will include:
- To act as the senior person on site during Night shift operations.
- Manage people resources deployment to meet the daily targets in production.
- Working with other Production departments as necessary, to ensure the smooth running of the relevant shift, including management responsibility for ensuring that a safe and clean work environment is maintained on the shop floor.
- To ensure that all employees and agency temps are compliant with all Health and Safety
- Regulations and established company policies and procedures at all times.
- Management responsibility for the quality of all products produced, ensuring that it meets company standards. Driving a “right first time” approach to their teams.
- Management responsibility for all the NCR’s, CAPA’s and Validation Work assigned to their teams, ensuring that they are completed within the agreed time frame.
- Management responsibility to ensure their teams are focused on achieving all the departments
- KPI’s e.g. meeting or surpassing target speeds or rejects etc.
- Support the Engineering, Production Managers & Lead Manufacturing Shift Manager by supporting engineers, ensuring that machine improvement days are completed. This will assist them to deliver improved reliability & uptime of the production equipment.
- Review production issues to identify root cause and develop, suggest corrective action.
- Ensuring these actions are executed to plan and that the actions have the desired outcome.
- Review of Manufacturing Performance Data, ensuring the team is focused on key issues that will ensure KPI’s are met.
- Management of labour and workflow to schedule compliance in order to support all production teams hourly / daily targets and achieve KPIs.
- Recruitment of staff within agreed headcount budget.
- Liaison with QA/Engineering/R&D/HR as appropriate to ensure best practice is followed.
- Provide and analyse all data as requested, pro-actively identifying trends and troubleshooting where appropriate.
- Lean and CI champion, facilitating process teams to drive through a lean-thinking and continuous improvement culture, reducing scrap, downtime and manufacturing waste while improving OEE and labour efficiency.
- Provide competent and reliable information to colleagues, ensuring best practice is followed and that the highest standard quality of product is produced in line with ISO13485 regulations.
- Effective communication at all levels both verbally and on written documentation e.g. shift handovers, investigations etc.
- Budget control of shift expenditure, including PPE resources.
- Ensuring all documentation and reports are completed accurately and correctly with concise data, meeting the prescribed company standards.
- Proactive (horizon) management, to lead by example in the management of Team Leaders to ensure they meet their responsibilities, including meeting resource plans.
- Supporting the Team Leaders in the management responsibility for ensuring that operation staff are trained and assessed in line with company standards, procedures and regulatory requirements and that skills and knowledge gaps are identified and corrective actions implemented.
- Provide accurate & concise communication with supported data and reports.
- Drive team motivation, employee engagement and foster a culture of communication and teamwork where all team members and staff are clear on expectations, goals and issues and are encouraged to contribute ideas, support company initiatives and develop professionally.
- Support the Supervision teams in the management of the production team in line with Company Procedures and Policies and guidance from HR i.e. absence & performance management.
- Ongoing development of the team with regular communication on their performance through regular 121’s and completion of the PDR process.
- Working with HR to review any training requirements that will ensure continuous development.
- Inspire and motivate team members to ensure company and team objectives are met.
- Managing team members’ holiday to ensure no negative effect on Production.
