Description Summary


The Junior Buyer will play an integral part in supporting the Buyer in the procurement of the goods and services the business needs to operate. Closely working with suppliers and internal departments to ensure the consistent and timely supply of materials, allowing the business to fulfill customer needs and meet company objectives with enhanced operational efficiency.


Ideally you’ll have a background in procurement or supply chain experience gained over several years – preferably gained from within a manufacturing environment.

 


Responsibilities

·       Sourcing and procuring raw materials, liaising with the Materials Planner so that they can in turn ensure accurate creation of purchase orders

·       Ensure long term material orders are in place in a timely manner ready for call off

·       Manage any externally held supplier stocks versus forecast, assessing shelf life where appropriate and conduct periodic review of volume commitments

·       Collaborate with internal departments to ensure product alignment with company needs

·       Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and OTIF

·       Work with the Buyer to facilitate the sourcing and evaluation of potential suppliers ensuring fair value and alignment with company values

·       Work with the Buyer in pre-determined categories to deliver PPV targets

·       Support in evaluating supplier tenders

·       Negotiate price, delivery and quality agreements with suppliers to maintain competitive edge.

·       Reporting non-conformance/variation of supplier agreement to the Buyer

·       Assist in maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers, developing SRM

·       Assist in producing daily PPV report, rectifying any issues as required

·       Work with the Buyer to deliver any market and supply volatility on the horizon, where possible taking actions to mitigate

·       Support the Buyer in supplier audits and maintaining any required documentation for regulatory compliance

·       Submission of any relevant reporting as required

·       Supply Chain admin as required

·       Attendance at daily and/or weekly meetings as required

·       Support zero loss projects

·       Stay up to date on market trends, availability of raw materials and pricing fluctuations relevant to the company’s business

·       Any other duties in line with the level of the post



Knowledge, Skills & Experience


·       Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills

·       Strong Excel and data management skills; experience with MRP systems ideal

·       Attention to detail

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven production environment

·       Problem solving skills

·       Positive approach to tasks

·       Motivation to succeed both individually and working as part of a team

·       Support other team members customers as required

·       A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above (Grade 4-9), including Maths and English, or equivalent, and preferably a Supply Chain or Purchasing qualification
