Graduate Ecology Data Technician
Aspect Ecology Ltd.

Are you a recent graduate with strong analytical skills and a passion for wildlife? Do you enjoy working with data and want to apply that interest in a meaningful, environmental context? Are you curious about how technology like audio and video analysis is used in ecological consultancy?
We’re looking for a Graduate Ecology Data Technician to join our dedicated in-house Data Team at Aspect Ecology. This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Oxfordshire office, ideal for someone with a background in biology, ecology or a related discipline who enjoys being desk-based working with data, problem-solving, and contributing to conservation through cutting-edge techniques.
In this role, you’ll help analyse and interpret the large datasets our field surveyors have collected from our Phase 2 bat surveys. These include both audio (sonograms) and video (infrared footage). You'll identify bat calls, assess bat behaviour, and present your findings in a format that feeds directly into ecological assessments and licence applications. Full training is provided—including enrolment on the industry-recognised BatAbility Certificate of Bat Acoustics (Analysis Technician Level) course.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in an environmental or biological field
- Strong analytical skills and confidence using software to process and interpret data
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Excellent organisation, communication and collaboration skills
- An eagerness to learn and grow within a technical, specialist team
It would be amazing if you had:
- Field experience with bat surveys
- Experience with sonogram or acoustic data analysis
At Aspect Ecology, we combine scientific expertise with innovative thinking. You’ll be part of a professional, supportive and forward-thinking team that’s shaping how ecological data is used to inform real-world decisions.
Once experienced you will be offered the chance to work on a variety of projects to expand how and what data is used, many of our employees have worked on projects that have been of personal interest to them. We match this with a commitment to continuous development and learning to support your career. We also offer benefits to look after you, from private medical insurance for all employees, access to mental health first aiders and comprehensive income protection if you cannot work.
