- Review and enhance procurement strategy to optimise cost, quality, service levels, and supplier reliability
- Working with internal functions to ensure all stakeholders needs are met.
- Source global suppliers and manage the procurement life cycle, including new product introduction.
- Manage procurement team performance, development plans, and appraisals
- Work closely with the Head of Supply Chain to manage procurement strategy and ensure optimal supplier performance and cost.
- Lead activities such as supplier evaluation, contract management, risk assessment, and long-term relationship building.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement needs.
- Manage key supplier relationships, negotiate agreements, and implement KPIs for continuous improvement.
- Support contract negotiation and terms with suppliers.
- Oversee the procurement process from sourcing to delivery.
- Lead and mentor the procurement team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Undertaking all aspects of procurement related activity to achieve on-time delivery, meeting cost and quality requirements.
- Regularly visit suppliers to maintain relationship and manage schedules, risks and opportunities.
- Strong background in demand planning, inventory management, asset management, spares and repairs provision
- Create expediting reports and undertake expediting activity with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries in accordance with programme requirements.
- A CIPS/MCIPS qualification or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years' experience of working in a Procurement / Supply Chain environment, ideally within a maritime / defence environment.
- A proficient negotiator with strong commercial awareness and influencing skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to pass information clearly and accurately
- Leadership and team management skills, with a track record of driving performance.
- IT Proficient – MS Office, JIRA, Confluence
- Great attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- The ability to understand and apply feedback on work performance.
- Adaptable - maintaining established process whilst initiating and driving change and efficiencies.
- Collaborative and proactive / 'can-do’ working style.
- Procurement governance and compliance
- Excellent collaboration and team working skills
- Risk and opportunity management
- Experience of ERP systems ideally Infor LN
