Cellomatics Biosciences Ltd. is a rapidly growing specialised Contract Research Organisation (CRO) providing pre-clinical laboratory services to support the drug development programmes of Biotech and Pharmaceutical companies.

Cellomatics is now recruiting a part-time Finance Assistant to manage day to day aspects of the purchase ledger function and report to the Study and Operations Director. This is a new position and will ideally involve process improvement responsibilities as this function has only very recently been brought in-house. This is an exciting phase to work alongside the team to help improve the financial management while Cellomatics continues their exciting growth journey.

Job Responsibilities:

Key tasks

  • Manage Accounts inbox
  • Process invoices on Xero via Dext
  • Ensure timely approval of invoices
  • Validate purchase invoices match PO and query with relevant staff where there are discrepancies
  • Process monthly company credit and verify all receipts are present and coding is correct for review prior to input
  • Regular Supplier statement reconciliations with all key suppliers
  • Regular monthly review of creditors ledger to clear any credit balances and allocate any matching debit and credit balances
  • Raise customer invoices for approval
  • Produce payments run on bi-monthly basis for approval
  • Send remittances to suppliers and liaise with suppliers to ensure correct allocations
  • Set up payments in bank for approval


Desirable tasks

  • Produce electronic bank files to upload directly from Xero to the bank to mitigate any errors in processing
  • Improvement on purchasing and payment processes to optimise speed and record keeping
  • Data cleanse and validation of all supplier details in Xero Financial system


We are looking for an excellent communicator who will engage with their colleagues at all levels of the company.

The successful candidate will join the Cellomatics team, based in Colwick, Nottingham and will receive a competitive company benefits package. Role will be office based, with flexibility on working days and hours.

Candidate specification:

Essential Financial Skills and Experience

  • Previous purchase ledger/invoice processing role required
  • Experience in managing payment runs
  • Managing Aged Creditors report and clearing queries
  • Moderate user of excel and accounting software
  • Hands on approach and good communications and people skills


Desirable Financial Skills and Experience

  • Experience in using Xero preferrable
  • Implementation of new processes and change management
  • Sales ledger


Essential Personal and Management Skills and Experience

  • Effective communication skills both written and oral
  • Good team player, and ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organisation
  • Desire to understand and improve processes
  • Well organised and adherence to deadlines

Location: 10 Colwick Quays Business Park, Road No 2, Colwick, NG4 2JY, Nottingham

Job Type: Part-time (10-12h/week)

Salary: Depending on the candidates experience and skill sets; Range between £23,000- £25,000 pro rata
