Medical Secretary

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and organised Medical Secretary to join our team, at 255 Lichfield Road.

The successful candidate will be a committed individual with relevant experience working in secretarial and/or administrative positions, preferably within a hospital environment.

You will be required to be professional and motivated.

Essential requirements:
Previous experience within an administrative, customer service, clinical or other appropriate background.
Educated to GSCE (Grades A-C) or equivalent
Excellent Keyboard skills and proficient in the use of the standard range of Office applications.
Excellent written and spoken English
An understanding of medical terminology
Ability to audio-type
Flexibility

Desirable: - Basic understanding of Mental Health

Job description and purpose

Your main duties will include (but are not limited to):
Providing secretarial support to individuals or departments including organising and taking minutes of meetings (distributing relevant information before and/or after to all relevant parties), along with maintaining Senior Clinician diaries;
Making and receiving telephone calls, both to patients, patients' relatives and professionals;
Handling confidential information;
Updating clinical details within all necessary database systems;

Skills/Qualifications:
Proven track record in administration ideally within a healthcare environment;
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Good working knowledge of IT systems;
Able to use own initiative and seek advice when required;
Excellent attention to detail;
Positive and helpful attitude at all times;
Good team player and excellent customer service skills.

255 Lichfield Road is a 28 bedded R&R Community Facing hospital caring for men and women with mental health needs over the age of 18.

At 255 Lichfield Road, we aim to provide opportunities for our Service Users to practice independent living, by helping them build the skills and confidence needed to successfully live in the community.
