We need someone with financial experience, either as a qualified accountant or someone with financial management experience, to make sure our big plans for young people are backed by robust business plans and processes.
What difference will you make?
We are a relatively new organisation with big ambitions and are looking for someone to help us achieve the vision with have together with the young people of Stratford. Our current Board of 7 trustees includes people with a range of experience including safeguarding, youth services, fundraising and governance. We aim to have 50% of our trustees under 25. In this role you will help make a difference to hundreds of children and young people in Stratford, including young people facing some of the toughest challenges. Local young people, like young people everywhere, urgently need more support. Support that meets them where they are, based on their needs. What that looks like will be up to them and will only be possible with the support of experienced, enthusiastic and committed people. We’re lucky to have small team of staff rich in these qualities who are known and trusted by local young people. We now need a leadership body who can also bring and share them.
What are we looking for?
We need someone with financial experience, either as a qualified accountant or someone with financial management experience, to make sure our big plans for young people are backed by robust business plans and processes. Key Responsibilities Overseeing, approving, and presenting budgets, accounts, and financial statements. Ensuring the financial resources of the organization meet its present and future needs. Preparing and presenting financial reports to the board. Ensuring appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place. Liaising with paid staff and volunteers about financial matters. Advising on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic plans. Ensuring the charity has an appropriate investment policy. Monitoring the organisation’s investment activity to ensure it is consistent with policies and legal responsibilities. Ensuring accounts are prepared and disclosed as required by funders and statutory bodies. Contributing to the fundraising strategy of the organisation. Making formal presentations of the accounts at the annual general meeting. Experience of charity accounting including use of restricted funds and gift aid would be useful. You will work with our external fundraising consultant, signing off major grant applications. Knowledge of fundraising would be helpful.

The overall role of the Trustee Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the organisation’s affairs, ensure its financial viability, and ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. As a new organisation there is plenty of opportunity to help shape effective and sustainable processes that will deliver quality services for young people we support.
