The Prison is the UK’s first purpose-built, new resettlement Prison. After opening in 2022 it is a one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future and has become an integral part of the local community.
G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.
Reporting to the Head of FM, we are looking for a full time Locksmith to join our FM team to deliver and manage all Locks at HMP Five Wells. You will be responsible for meeting all statutory, mandatory and maintenance requirements in line with the Authority established baselines and contractual obligations, ensuring that all records are maintained to ensure & secure operation, and that all locks are effective and maintained.
Some Of The Key Responsibilities Will Be
You will possess strong organisational and communication skills, experience of a range of maintenance skills including carpentry and previous locksmith experience and also dedicated to providing a high quality service.

Some Of The Key Responsibilities Will Be
- To service and maintain all locks as outlined in the contractual responsibilities
- To respond to call outs to repair damaged locks that may compromise security
- .To undertake repair and fixing of carpentry related assets as required including fire doors
- To undertake other support work required within FM to meet contractual requirements
- To operate in a safe & secure manner
- To keep up to date key and lock lists
- Respond to repair & PPM requirements within the agreed timescales
- Keep current on relevant technology
- To undertake the duties of on call engineer on a rotational basis
- Undertake Planned and Reactive Maintenance to the prison locks locking as required
- Correct & Secure storage of keys, locks and spares etc.
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade
- Maintain and update the key lock register
