About The Role

We are look for an accomplished and strategic Commercial Manager to lead our commercial function across the UK and Ireland. This is a national role with broad scope and influence, designed for someone ready to shape and drive commercial strategy across both regulated and unregulated markets.

As Commercial Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end management of complex, high-value contracts, ensuring alignment with legal, regulatory, and internal governance frameworks. Your role will be instrumental in managing commercial risk, supporting procurement activity, and delivering financial stewardship, including budget setting, forecasting, and reporting.

You will lead an established and capable commercial team, operating within a scalable organisational design that reflects our growth ambitions. As both coach and mentor, you will foster a culture of collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement, inspiring high standards and a forward-thinking mindset throughout the team.

The role also involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, from clients and suppliers to subcontractors and requires someone who can confidently manage commercial negotiations while promoting clarity, compliance, and positive engagement.

Operating across both regulated and unregulated sectors, our business requires a leader who is agile, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment where flexibility and commercial intuition are key. You will also contribute to bid development, support strategic growth initiatives, and offer high-level commercial input into projects nationwide.

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will bring extensive experience within the utilities sector, with a deep understanding of the commercial challenges and opportunities that define the industry. You should have a proven background in portfolio commercial management and demonstrable expertise in navigating complex contractual frameworks and relationships.

We are looking for someone who possesses in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, specifically options A, C, and E. Familiarity with NEC Two Stage Contracts is also essential. Beyond technical expertise, strong leadership qualities are critical — particularly the ability to lead and inspire distributed teams while fostering a culture of openness, trust, and collaboration.

You will be someone who is proactive, improvement-focused, and commercially astute, with a track record of driving innovation and efficiencies across project portfolios. Clear communication, sound judgment, and a commitment to excellence will be essential to your success in this role.

While not essential, professional qualifications such as MRICS (RICS Chartered Member), APM Project Management (PMQ or PPQ), Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), or NCMA Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) would be considered highly advantageous.
