To operate, maintain, overhaul, install and optimise the energy generation asset base (A fleet of spark ignition and dual fuel CHP engines; the gas to grid assets; flare stacks; siloxane removal plants; carbon vessels and all associated ancillaries,) whilst ensuring that the Energy Generation asset base achieves the availability, quality, generation targets, performance and safety standards of the Company.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- To carry out regular diagnosis, adjustment and optimisation of the energy generation asset base in order to achieve optimum performance
- To diagnose and rectify faults and ensure correct operation of the energy generation asset base thereby optimising the availability of the assets along with performing planned maintenance activities on the energy generation assets to achieve the required levels of availability.
- To carry out proactive and reactive maintenance activities on the Energy Generation asset base within a primary skill with limited capacity in a secondary and tertiary skill, keeping downtime to a minimum thus optimising the availability.
- To have a good understanding of the combustion process and the consequence of gas quality on the reliability of the CHP engines along with carrying out regular diagnosis using multiple data sources (oil sampling, gas quality, engine emissions, changes in engine readouts and data from linked processes) to adjust and optimise the CHP assets to achieve optimum performance of the CHP process.
- To liaise with site operations to match the performance of the energy generation assets with the requirements of the site processes with the delivery of targeted power production
- You will have a core skill in mechanical
- Experience in operating and maintaining HV/LV power generation installations, alternators, heat recovery systems, and ignition and control systems and knowledge of SSW, company policy, statutory regulations, operation procedures, maintenance procedures, administration procedures.
- Practical knowledge of fault finding and repairs to medium speed gas engines and ancillary plant
- Competency in a flexible skill role to NVQ level 3, diagnostics, organisation skills, communication skills, computer skills e.g. CAMM, POPS, abrasive wheels, lifting equipment, emission diagnostic equipment, engine manufactures specific training, PLC diagnostic and programming, operation and maintenance of engines and generators, applied Company and maintenance policy
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Time served in relevant engineering discipline, HNC, ONC or equivalent in a relevant technical - Mechanical area along with relevant engine manufacturer’s specific training.
- A valid driving licence is essential
- To provide accurate and complete plant performance and maintenance information for subsequent data entry into the Company system
- To be involved in innovative solutions to implement new technology application across the renewable energy platform, enabling the company to gain advantage of current market opportunities.
- To support the companies Energy Generation production facilities throughout the region. In addition, good relations with suppliers and contractors are necessary to ensure a quality service.
- Liaison is required with other UUNW departments, agency personnel, and any regulatory contacts made.
- The energy generation department is called upon to provide a 24 hour service for emergency operational and repair work to the energy generation asset base, and will be expected to take part in a standby rota to operate in line with current operational practices.
