Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Compliance Officer with expertise in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), financial crime prevention, ISQM 1 audit quality standards, and regulatory compliance. This role is critical in ensuring our firm’s audit and accountancy services meet the highest standards of integrity, quality, and regulatory adherence.


Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the implementation and monitoring of the ISQM 1 (International Standard on Quality Management 1) framework across audit engagements.

• Oversee AML compliance processes, including client due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and suspicious activity reporting (SAR).

• Conduct internal compliance audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate financial crime and regulatory risks.

• Maintain and update compliance policies in line with UK regulations (e.g., HMRC, FCA, GDPR, POCA).

• Provide training and support to audit and accountancy teams on AML, ISQM 1, and regulatory compliance.

• Liaise with external regulators (e.g., ICAEW, CIMA, FRC) and auditors during inspections and reviews.

• Reporting and maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of AML/CTF-related activities, including client due diligence documentation and transaction monitoring reports.

• Investigate and report any breaches of compliance or suspicious activity.


Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Professional compliance qualification (e.g., ICA Diploma in AML or Financial Crime, CISI Compliance, or equivalent).

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a compliance role within a professional services or accountancy firm.

• Strong knowledge of UK AML regulations, ISQM 1, GDPR, and audit regulatory frameworks.

• Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills.

Desirable:

• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent audit/accounting qualification.

• Experience with compliance and audit quality software (e.g., Inflo, CaseWare, SmartSearch).
