Fleet Production Planner
East Midlands Railway

We are proud to be One Team at East Midlands Railway (EMR). We are passionate about keeping people safe, delighting our customers, doing the right thing, and putting customers at the heart of our sustainable railway for the East Midlands.
With over 2,600 employees, our people are the reason we are so successful. Nine times accredited as a Top Employer, we value our people and are dedicated to making sure that everybody feels empowered to bring their authentic self to work.
At EMR we want to proactively embrace diversity across our workforce and recognise that we are under-represented in terms of females and ethnic minority groups. We’re therefore taking positive steps to promote a positive and inclusive culture; we welcome applications from those that identify with these groups to better represent our communities.
We have an exciting opportunity to join #TeamEMR as a Fleet Production Planner.
We are seeking a proactive and skilled individual to build, own, and manage the Regional Fleet production plan. In this role, you will ensure that service, maintenance, and repair activities are planned efficiently. You will be responsible for creating detailed workload plans that align tasks with available resources to meet specified outputs. Additionally, you will analyse current processes and identify opportunities for improving productivity, cost, and overall efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Chair daily and weekly production planning meetings, collaborating with key stakeholders to review, produce, and refine the production plan.
- Review open work reports, fleet checks, concessions, and at-risk units to drive a unified approach to repair and rectification.
- Develop and manage shift-based detailed work plans to ensure all tasks are accounted for, delivering the required outputs from the depots.
- Assess available resources, including personnel, materials, and facilities, to ensure the production plan is feasible and achievable.
- Collaborate with the Train Planning teams to ensure unit diagrams are optimised, enabling efficient task execution.
- Monitor the delivery of the production plan, ensuring both input and output meet established targets.
- Foster a strong planning culture within the business, ensuring long-term planning is prioritised over short-term decisions that may impact workload.
- Develop, track, and publish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
- Act as Deputy to the Fleet Maintenance Planning Manager when required.
What we’re looking for
- Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance regimes
- Experience planning workloads in a maintenance environment (time and distance-based)
- Familiar with rail applications like Integrale, Voyager, Genius, Web Gemini, and R2
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to analyse data and implement improvements
- Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
As well as a competitive salary, we’ll also offer you:
- An excellent defined benefit pension scheme
- 32 days’ holiday per year, rising to 34 after 2 years
- Free First-Class duty travel on the EMR network
- Free standard leisure travel on the EMR network and Train Operating Companies under Transport UK & LNER
- 75% discount on national leisure travel (inc partner and dependants)
- Friends and Family discounted tickets on the EMR network
- Various training opportunities
- Employee benefits portal with access to generous discounts, Cycle 2 Work Scheme …and many more!
EMR has a hybrid working policy which is applicable for this role. This means the role can be based at home 2-3 days per week and in the office 2-3 days per week. Should you wish to work full time in the office this is also an option.
To apply complete the online application and upload your CV. As we operate a blind screening process, please remove all personal information including your name from your CV.
Whilst your base will be Derby Head Office, you will need to be flexible with travelling and working at other EMR locations to be able to support stakeholders in person as required. You will be provided with a First Class duty travel pass to be able to travel around the EMR network and work on the move.
