Case Progression Support Officer

A Case Progression Support Officer position has become available within the Criminal Justice Services (CJS) NGAP (Not Guilty Anticipated Plea) team.
The role of the team is to provide a ‘Cradle to Grave’ case progression support to investigating officers and staff across Norfolk and Suffolk, managing a workload incorporating:
o Pre-charge case evidential and file quality reviews
o PR decision evidential and file quality reviews
o Post charge reviews
o Submission of case material to the CPS and HMCTS
o Management of both Magistrates and Crown cases through the prosecution process
The role ensures NGAP and Crown cases are compliant with legislative standards, force polices and service level agreements, providing guidance to officers with regards to proportionate appropriate case building requirements.
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Knowledge of law, procedure and guidance relating to the evidential and legal requirements for crime cases progressed through the Criminal Justice System.
- Ability to manage a high and varied workload effectively, prioritising appropriately and delivering to exceptional productivity and quality standards within challenging deadlines.
- Ability to process complex information, form evidence led conclusions and make decisions backed with clear rationales.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to solve problems and achieve successful outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills across all media with the ability to deliver complex messaging clearly and concisely.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, organisational policy and SOPs to working practices
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Experience of working in a Criminal Justice System environment
We have one full-time and one part-time role available; please specify on your application if you have a preference. The salary quoted will be pro-rata based on number of hours worked for the part-time role.
