The Opportunity


We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Data Privacy Lead to join the in-house Global Legal Team at William Grant & Sons on a 12-month fixed-term contract . The role will involve leading the compliance agenda for UK and EU GDPR and other relevant global data protection legislation. It will also involve working closely with the Legal Services Leadership Team, the Head of Information Security, and the Global Technology Services (GTS) Leadership Team to identify global data protection priorities, as well as providing day-to-day advice on policy, strategy and project implementation and development.


What you will be doing


  • Leading the compliance agenda for UK and EU GDPR and other relevant global data protection legislation.
  • Leading the data protection input on the Digital Agenda for the organization.
  • Managing the budget for support and tools to ensure value for money and managing external suppliers to ensure they deliver the needed services.
  • Leading the Data Governance & Security Group (DGSG), identifying opportunities for improvement, and developing a risk-based maturation plan for the global business.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive compliance training and assurance plan to drive focus on compliance and culture change.
  • Reporting to the Executive Board on key risks, opportunities, and progress in connection with the delivery of the data protection compliance agenda.
  • Working closely with the Legal Services Leadership Team, Head of Information Security, and the GTS Leadership Team to identify priorities and provide advice and guidance on policy, strategy, and project implementation and development.
  • Leading the ongoing development and usage of the WG&S Privacy Hub intranet pages.
  • Ensuring that all relevant issues are raised to the Legal Services Leadership Team, Head of Information Security, and GTS Leadership Team, and that they are considered and discussed at the appropriate forum.
  • Developing and maintaining a full and up-to-date suite of policies aimed at data resilience and protecting the long-term legacy of WG&S.


Our Ideal Candidate.


You will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and to strict timeframes. You will have strong computer literacy (Excel, Word, MS365, Sharepoint) and will be confident operating independently to find solutions to problems and to establish improved ways of working. Experience of leading and developing an international data privacy programme is essential.
